Our growing business...
Redfields Plant Centre is situated just over a mile from Redfields Garden Centre near the village of Crondall. Constructed on a brown field site, it opened for business on 1 January 2005.
Initially comprising one multi-span tunnel covering 1.5 hectares, with the addition of outdoor beds, the Centre has now doubled in size to 3 hectares of growing space.
Our growing team consists of two full time and one part time member of staff, plus seasonal labour during busy times, to ensure the product meets not only the demand but the high quality standards.
Primarily growing shrubs, with each one sourced as a liner from tried and tested suppliers, it is potted and grown until it reaches a specified size and quality. Only then can it qualify to be labelled with the Redfields Five Year Guarantee and delivered to the Garden Centre for sale.
The Plant Centre also grows a wide range of bedding plants for its own hanging baskets and containers, as well as a range of larger seasonal lines for today’s Patio Gardener, a collection of Herbaceous Perennials, Grasses, Acers, Palms, Bamboos and even Vegetables make up an impressive catalogue of crops.
The concept of the Plant Centre was not to attempt to cut the cost of 
supply to the Garden Centre, indeed if this were the case, it would not have worked. The idea and primary objectives were to provide Redfields Garden Centre customers with a product that was unique, of great quality, reliable in name and performance but most of all fresh. With the range and expertise we have at the Plant Centre, coupled with daily deliveries to the Garden Centre, we succeed in maintaining this benchmark of excellence.
